Technical Advisor – Manufacturing, Production, Systems Engineer of Hypersonics and Advanced Munitions

Remote, with ability to travel 25%

10+ years supporting engineering, manufacturing, or production programs within DoW or related environments

Clearance:

U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain Secret clearance required. Active clearance (S through TS/SCI) preferred.

MACH-20 is seeking a Technical Advisor to support manufacturing and industrial base assessments for DoW programs focused on hypersonics and advanced munitions systems. This role is suited for candidates with systems engineering experience or deep expertise in key subsystems/components, including propulsion, airframes and structures, payloads, sensors/seekers, thermal protection systems, leading edges, and associated materials and manufacturing processes. You will evaluate manufacturing maturity, production risk, and industrial base capability to support transition from R&D to scalable, production-ready systems, and provide data-driven assessments and recommendations to inform decision-makers and support accountable program execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support execution of manufacturing, technology, and industrial base assessments, with priority on evaluating maturity, risks, gaps, and opportunities
  • Provide technical oversight of performer activities, including tracking progress, identifying risks/issues, and ensuring alignment with program objectives and execution plans
  • Develop technical reports, briefings, and stakeholder communications summarizing findings and recommendations
  • Support research solicitations, proposal evaluations, down-select activities, cost estimation, technical risk management, and technology transition planning
  • Provide subject matter expertise across multiple technical areas and product lines
  • Participate in program reviews, site visits, and field demonstrations
  • Engage stakeholders across DoD, industry, and R&D organizations to align needs, capabilities, and gaps to accelerate transition of scalable, production-ready systems

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Materials, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs), Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs), production scale-up, and technology transition
  • Experience in hypersonics, advanced munitions, or related aerospace systems, with background in systems engineering or a key subsystem/component area (e.g., propulsion, structures, payloads, sensors, thermal protection systems, leading edges)
  • Knowledge of production operations, system integration, assembly, test, and in-process monitoring, with awareness of industrial base and supply chain risks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to develop clear technical narratives and briefings
  • Proven ability to learn new technical domains, operate in dynamic environments, and apply strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills
