Katie Detwiler, Ph.D.

Technical Advisor

Dr. Katie Detwiler is a materials engineer with over 10 years of experience in the defense ecosystem. She has collaborated with industry, academia, and international partners to address challenges for high-temperature materials in extreme environments. Katie led research efforts at the Air Force Research Laboratory at WPAFB, focusing on materials for hypersonic and propulsion technologies, including rotating detonation combustion systems, turbine engines, and scramjets. She has extensive experience in lab and ground-based testing & monitoring of materials in relevant environments. Katie holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Virginia, and an M.S. in Materials Science & Engineering and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Wright State University.
